For this strategic position in our Cape Town office, we require a competent, energetic, innovative and self-motivated individual.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:-
# Providing leadership and support to a competent and talented internal team of book designers (including artwork co-ordinator and systems manager).
# Plan and implement a strategy in support of deliverables as per publishing plans.
# Maintain a high degree of design quality to required specification.
# Oversee maintenance and support of studio computer systems and network.
# Optimally utilize resources in support of the company's objectives.
# Strategic liaison with internal customers to meet their expectations.
# Commissioning of freelance designers and maintaining the financial responsibilities involved.
# Sourcing of freelance designers and design companies.
Requirements
# Comprehensive educational book design knowledge experience.
# A high degree of design skills and knowledge of the Apple Mac environment and applications.
# The ability to mentor design staff and develop their skills.
# The capability to provide leadership and training to a team of designers.
# Excellent planning, organizing, motivating and project management skills.
# Excellent people skills with a hands-on approach to management.
# A passion for design quality and success.
